Your Travelling Nutritionist

Hi there – I’m Belinda!
I’m a Clinical Nutritionist (BHSc – Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine), nationally accredited with the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA), and a qualified Nutritional Counsellor. I bring over 16-years of professional experience across the health, fitness and performance industries with qualifications spanning nutrition, exercise science and education. I’m the Director of The Travelling Nutritionist Australia, author of F.A.D – F*ck All Diets, and creator and host of the podcast Need to Know Nutrition. My work has been featured in The Art of Healing Magazine (Autumn 2024), ABC Radio National, and ABC News (June 2024). I’m also a proud advocate and member of Size Inclusive Australia
Why nutrition?
If I’m honest — nutrition chose me.
My first degree was in Musical Theatre, and it was within the physically demanding and highly competitive performing arts industry that my early (and somewhat unconventional) relationship with food began. Like many, I fell into the world of fad diets in pursuit of performance, aesthetics, and control.
Low-fat. No-fat. High-carb. No-carb. High-protein. Sugar-free. Atkins. Weight Watchers. Lemon detox. Keto. Paleo. Fasting.
I tried them all — I even created a few of my own.
None of them worked.
While performing professionally by night, I became a personal trainer by day (and very early morning), driven by a desire to understand the body from a physical perspective. Working closely with clients, I began to notice a consistent pattern: improvements in fitness did not always translate to improvements in health.
Despite training harder, many experienced poor recovery, fatigue, gut issues, low motivation, stalled progress, and ongoing frustration.
That was the turning point.
The science behind the practice
I returned to university to complete my Bachelor of Health Science in Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine — a comprehensive, science-based degree (not a short online certificate). This training deepened my understanding of human physiology, biochemistry, and the functional role of nutrition in both health promotion and disease development.
I learned how macronutrients, micronutrients, fibre, antioxidants, and phytonutrients work together — or against each other — to influence health outcomes across the lifespan.
Most importantly, I learned how to translate complex science into practical, achievable strategies that support real people living real lives.
My food and health philosophy
It’s simple.
Eat for health. Eat for happiness.
Choose real, nourishing foods — because you want to.
Remember you’re human — perfection is unrealistic.
Eat to feel good, eat to fuel your body, and eat in a way that supports the life you want to live.
Dieting doesn’t work. Deprivation and restriction breed obsession, not health. Rather than chasing diets, I encourage high standards for your health, grounded in evidence, flexibility, and self-respect.
80/20 is my jam:
80% whole foods, 20% soul foods — because joy belongs on the plate too (and yes, chocolate and wine are included).
